Welcome to the Ceramic Materials Creation Chemistry Laboratory at Department of Applied Chemistry, Kindai University!

Our Laboratory has been established from 2025. Our research focuses on designing new ceramic materials through strategic selection of chemical elements.

Ceramics are historically applicated materials that have been used since ancient times, most notably in pottery such as plates and bowls. Recent progress in their applications extend far beyond traditional pottery, encompassing electronic materials, magnetic materials, phosphors, pigments, catalysts, and many other areas of everyday life. Ceramics are primarily composed of cations (positively charged ions) and anions (negatively charged ions). The wide range of functionalities exhibited by ceramics stems from the diversity of their chemical compositions and crystal structures. By controlling these factors, it is possible to tailor and enhance their functions. Our laboratory focuses on the composition and structure of ceramic materials, aiming to create novel compounds with unprecedented combinations of elements and crystal architectures—driven by unconventional ideas and innovative approaches.
